2018 COTY (Color Of The Year) Announcement

It started a decade ago with Pantone, the color matching giant, announcing a go to color for the upcoming year.   Since then, major paint manufacturers have presented their own choice for color of the year.

So, with 2018 just around the corner, announcements are being made for the year’s up and coming colors.

Sherwin Williams recently announced “Oceanside” (SW 6496) as their choice for the color of 2018.  “A collision of rich blue and jewel-toned green, Oceanside is universal when it comes to design style from mid-century modern to Mediterranean-inspired, traditional to contemporary”, according to Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin Williams.

NewStudio was ahead of the curve on this one.  Interior designer, Coco Dugan Early, specified a deep blue green for the front door of a Deephaven residence remodel.  Inspired by the tones found in Lake Minnetonka, the color ties the house’s nautical theme to the deep tones of lake on which it sits.

Benjamin Moore announced “Caliente” (AF-290) as their choice for the color of 2018.  Caliente, a deep red, is described by Ellen O’Neill of Benjamin Moore as “the signature color of a modern architectural masterpiece; a lush carpet rolled out for a grand arrival; the assured backdrop for a book-lined library; a powerful first impression on a glossy front door.  The eye can’t help but follow its bold strokes.”

PPG brand paints revealed “Black Flame” (1043-7) as their 2018 color of the year.  “Black Flame acts like a black curtain, allowing your other design elements to take center stage.  It’s a fantastic blend of black and navy, tow classic hues”, according to PPG’s press release.

Taste Williamsburg/Greenpoint - Brooklyn

Meanwhile, over at Brooklyn NSA and under an early Fall, blue sky Sunday afternoon overlooking the East River, Jon Mark and Chris (Moy) attended Taste Williamsburg / Greenpoint. Arranged by the The Firehouse and North Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Taste Williamsburg / Greenpoint is an outdoor event that allows a cornucopia of local Brooklyn restaurants, bars, breweries, wine makers and hospitality venues and fine beverage vendors showcase their talents offering savory food tastings and delicious quenching elixirs, while the festive sounds of local DJs and various musical ensembles fill the air. Major Hospitality players like the William Vale Hotel and Williamsburg Hotel where on hand boasting their highly acclaimed restaurants Leuca and Harvey (respectively), while other local favorites such as Le Gamin, The Meatball Shop and Jon Mark’s favorite (for its “best chicken fried steak") Brooklyn Star were also on hand. Chris was particularly fond of the insanely good watermelon mojito island frozen pops! Yum! 😊

For twelve days at the end of every summer, the entire state of Minnesota (and part of western Wisconsin) congregates in St Paul, at the Great Minnesota Get Together, a.k.a. - The Minnesota State Fair.

Here at NSA, we have a number of fanatical fair goers, who never miss this annual event. Everyone has their favorite foods, exhibits, and rides at the Mighty Midway. Here are a few shots from Melissa's 2017 trip to the Fair.
