NewStudio Architecture created open areas for an immersive shopping experience at Anthropologie & Co. at Bedford Square

Anthropologie & Co. presents a brand-concept shopping experience throughout 35,000 sf of the historic Tudor-style Bedford Square building. Eye-catching displays of furniture, decor, apparel, and jewelry flow from one mezzanine to the next, thanks to the custom steel and concrete grand stairway that connects all three floors and establishes the store's focal point. The space also features a BHLDN wedding department and styling center. In addition to preserving much of the original mansion’s brick, NewStudio worked with designers from URBN, the parent company of Anthropologie & Co., to create a sense of openness around the extensive merchandise selections, bringing natural light from the top floor to reach down to the level below the street. Stunning interior details echo the brand’s emphasis on craftsmanship, artistry, and sustainability, such as hand-colored interior plaster work on the walls, exposed rafters, and refurbished wood flooring.
